BERWICK weightlifter Neil Jordan recorded a new personal best on his way to a second title of the year by winning the East of Scotland Championships.

Neil was the club’s only representative in this year’s championships, competing in the 105+ kg class.

In the first part of the competition, the snatch, Neil started with a comfortable 70kg lift.

He then elected to take a 5 kg increase, to 75kg, which was again held.

Again Neil elected for a 5kg increase and again the lift was held. Three snatches out of three, was a very good start.

In the clean and jerk, he started with 95 kg, which looked very easy, so again elected for a 5kg increase. This 100lg lift again looked comfortable for Neil and put him into new territory, as his next lift would be a personal best.

This time Neil elected for a smaller increase to 102 kg. Again he lifted the bar comfortably giving him a new personal best in the clean and jerk.

This gave Neil the title and adds to the Scottish Open title he picked up earlier this year.

Earlier this year, Neil won the 105+ class and didn’t lose out to anyone, winning the class with total of 175kg.

It was another title to add to a growing collection.
