A fabulous weekend of swimming for Duns Amateur Swimming Club saw them lift the Duns 500 trophy for the first time in seven years.
The swimmers were on fine form picking up a total of 48 medals and personal bests galore beating teams from Edinburgh and across the Borders.
In addition to the overall team trophy, individual cups were won by Rachael Dawson (top under 11 girl) and Jessica Douglas and Cameron Thompson who both won the 12/13 medley trophies.
Duns ASC swimmers James Thompson and Kacper Dluzak also broke the one minute time for 100 metres freestyle at last Saturday’s meeting. Both boys smashed the elusive time, James coming in on 58.36 seconds and Kacper on 59.55 seconds to take gold and silver medals respectively.
Sunday saw the annual Haddington ASC Total Swimmer Meet. This is a tough competition attended by teams from all over Scotland. Swimmers compete in all strokes and are awarded points for their times. The top six swimmers from each age group go into a final 200IM swim off for the title of Total Swimmer.
Duns ASC were represented by a small band of 11 swimmers who did not disappoint.
Rachael Dawson was placed fifth in the 11 year age group, Callum Tharme was placed third in the 14/15 boys and a nail biting last leg saw Ellenor Gracey narrowly beaten into second place in the 14/15 girls.
