Duns swimmers make a splash at championships

Members of Duns Amateur Swimming Club who competed at the SASA East District Age Group Championships at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

The whole Duns ASC squad is continuing to improve on their times as the competitive season progresses, smashing personal bests in most events and a good number making the finals!

Those competing were: Megan Hay, Abbie Crossan , Paige Minnikin, Ellenor Gracey, Gaby Gracey, Poppy White, Rachael Dawson, Jessica Douglas, Zara Milton, Abbie Thompson, Toby Douglas, Alex Thompson, Morgan Thompson, Cameron Thompson, Euan Thompson, James Thompson, Callum Tharme, Lewis Tharme, Kacper Dluzak, Danny Milton, Tyler Milton, Sam Brady and Jake Gibson.

Results from the Duns swimmers who competed at the SASA East District Age Group Championships at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh were:

James Thompson 14 years - seventh in 100m freestyle with an excellent time of 1:01.08;

Kacper Dluzak 14 years - fourth in 100m breaststroke improving on his heat time to get 1:18.41;

Toby Douglas 15 years - gold in 100m freestyle, gold in 100m butterfly, bronze in 100m breaststroke, fourth in 100m backstroke and fifth in 200 individual medley;

Ellenor Gracey 15 years - fourth in 100m freestyle and sixth in 100m breaststroke taking another second off her heat time;

Zara Milton 16 years and over - eighth in 100m breaststroke.

Duns ASC was the only Scottish Border Club to field relay teams at the weekend and they didn’t disappoint, even though some younger swimmers had never competed in a long course pool!

All teams bettered their entry times, with the boys 15 and over 4x50m medley team finishing fourth.
