Civic welcome for cup winners

BERWICK Speedway are to parade the Premier League Fours Trophy through the town on Saturday.

The Bandits, who lifted the silverware at Peterborough on Sunday, will parade the trophy on an open top truck through the town and down the high street at approximately 3.30pm.

They will arrive at the Guildhall where they are hoping to be met by the Mayor, Coun John Robertson, at around 4pm.

A club spokesman said this week that whilst the trophy would be paraded before fans at Shielfield on Saturday, they wanted to share their success with the townspeople.

The truck will be decorated accordingly and all four riders who won the trophy will be in attendance, as well as club officials.
