First up was newly crowned Eastern District and Schoolboy Champion, Geordie White who faced Connor Hynd from Dunfermline Amateur Boxing Club. This was an enticing bout in which Geordie emerged as the well-deserved winner in a split decision.

After an exhibition match between Caitlin Black of Chirnside and Brooke Anderson of Dunfermline, Jack Grant, a previous winner of the Eastern District title and Scottish Intermediate Championship silver medallist beat Jack James Arnott from Dunfermline by an unanimous decision.

Edward Varey of Chirnside then took on Joel Tailford of Alnwick ABC in a well fought match in which Tailford emerged the winner in an unanimous decision.

Next up was Thomas Douglas, fighting on behalf of Chirnside, who defeated the challenger, Danus Gelumbekas from Zetland on another unanimous decision.

After the interval, the crowd stayed as enthusiastic as ever with the appearance of British Youth Champion, Mitchell Barton and the headline act of Ben Grant vs Josh Johnstone taking place.

Prior to that, Chirnside’s Bailee Noon lost to Dunfermline’s Jack Colquhoun on another unanimous decision, although Bailee was very unfortunate as he fought bravely throughout.

The ninth fight was one in which an injury occurred to Robbie White from Chirnside in his bout against John Casey from Dunfermline. Half way through the second round, Robbie appeared to awkwardly twist his wrist and due to doctor’s orders, he was unable to continue so the win went to Casey.

Now we were in the big time, Michael Black, one of the coaches at Chirnside Boxing Club, fought James Munro of the Jonseys Amateur Boxing club. Black, loved by the home crowd, was unable to dismantle Munro and unfortunately fell to him in, once again, an unanimous decision. Black fought bravely and certainly gave the crowd something to cheer for.

From the off, Mitchell looked in control, hitting some dangerous jabs from his powerful right and his actions were rewarded with a win in a unanimous decision.

Last up, and topping the bill, were Ben Grant and Josh Johnstone. This was the one that made the crowd anxious and certainly high in spirits.

Grant looked well in control in the first and second rounds and emerged the winner in a split decision.

He also thanked the officials as without them, this event would not have taken place.

The main focus was for everyone to have a good time and that certainly paid off. Michael wad also extremely gracious of everyone who fought in the competition.
