Chirnside Chasers are the latest additions to the Scottish Athletics National Club Together Programme.

The programme, is all about increasing capacity, quality development and club modernisation.

Funding has been provided by a partnership programme between Scottish Athletics, Sportscotland and local partners Borders Athletics Development Group and Borders Sport and Leisure Trust

As part of the project, Chirnside Chasers are appointing a club development officer who will spend 12 hours per week supporting the committee, coaches and volunteers to grow capacity within the club and focus on developing it further by taking athletics out to schools in the local area by the way of taster session and to encourage children of all ages to get involved in healthy activity. Leeann Ross already has a very successful after school club at Chirnside Primary School every Wednesday.

Chair Stephen Ross is enthusiastic about the project. He said: “We have completed the Scottish Athletics Foundation Award but feel there is huge potential to develop further and working through Club Together can help us achieve our ambitions.”
