TLJT athlete Cameron Tindle has put Borders sprinting well and truly on the map after making it to the 200m final at the World Youth Games.

The 17-year-old from Berwick, trained by Henry Gray and Bruce Scott, successfully negotiated his heat and semi-final races to make it through to a highly competitive showdown in Cali, Columbia.

Although Tindle finished in eighth place with a time of 21.13, he acquitted himself well, having run a very fast 20.99 in the semi-final.

Coach Scott, from Earlston, said: “We are very proud of what Cameron has achieved.

“It is no mean feat to make it to a world final. This is the biggest stage a young athlete can perform on and he handled the pressure, atmosphere and climate extremely well.

“Cameron is very much in his infancy in terms of development and has a very bright future.”

Tindle will now start his preparation for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa in September.
