The Borders U13 badminton team travelled to Tranent recently to play in the Lothian U13 Inter-County Tournament.

There were some tough matches for the young local team but it was a good experience for them, particularly for the newer members of the squad.

The team didn’t win any of their matches but the players competed well, kept fighting for every point, and there was some great badminton played, with a number of games lost by only the odd point or two.

Lothian A won the tournament, with Yorkshire runners-up and North East third. Thanks were extended by Dave Burns and Harry Turnbull to David Rhind, for his help and support at the event, along with all the parents who turned up to watch and the players for all the effort they put in.

Girls – Sophie Younger (Kelso), Sophie Anderson (Earlston), Tilly Lucas (Coldingham) and Gemma Fullerton (Gordon). Boys – Isaac Weir (Duns), Kieran Burns (Duns), Finlay Rhind (Duns) and Duncan Crowe (St Abbs).
