Bonnie Bain, aged 14, has become the first student to gain a black belt with the Grantshouse Tae Kwondo Club.

The club was originally formed in 2011 and organisers say this is a significant milestone. Bonnie passed her theory test with 96.75 per cent and qualified as a black belt after impressing eight judges at a gradings session at the TAGB headquarters in Bristol. During her own training she has also helped some of the other students practice for their gradings.

Training times in Grantshouse Village Hall are: Sunday and Wednesday 6.30 - 8.30pm and Ayton Village Hall, Friday 12.30 - 1.30pm - contact 01361 850332.
