2015 has already proved to be a great year for Berwick Gymnastics Club, with several notable successes in competitions.

In addition, there has been a massive increase in membership as the club has expanded both its bases and its British Gymnastics disciplines via ‘Gymnastics for All.’

In February two of the club’s best tumblers Josie and Kate entered the National Development Plan (NDP) Tumbling Grades, travelling to Hartlepool to compete with over 300 other tumblers.

Josie and Kate competed in the NDP 12 Years and under at levels 2 and 1. Kate came out ninth in an entry of 24 (a strong performance) with Josie completing a superb set of challenging tumbles, resulting in a silver medal podium position.

Josie’s silver medal position has secured her a place at two National semi-finals in Peterborough and Sheffield in May / June this year, with the aim of reaching the National Finals in Telford.

Berwick Tumblers have made an impact on the national scene, and hope to continue doing so.

With the ‘Gymnastics for All’ side of the club now including; GymFusion, GymFit, GymChallenge, FreeG (Freestyle Gymnastics) Team Gym, General Gymnastics, Adult Gymnastics and MyClub, the club is flourishing, with over 160 members and Gymnasts taking part from one to five times per week, not just in Berwick, but in satellite clubs in Duns / Eyemouth and specialist training in Durham too!

Much of this fantastic expansion has been directly supported by British Gymnastics with considerable financial support for; Coach Education (coaches from the age of 14 - late 40’s), some great equipment and free trial sessions for those new to the sport.

2015 has been excellent so far, with the most demanding and adventurous plans in its 15 years of existence already in place for the rest of 2015, it is now a great time to get involved with Berwick Gymnastics Club.
