Berwick have confirmed that they will go into this weekend’s meetings against Edinburgh and Sheffield without the services of their number one rider Ricky Ashworth.
Ashworth has suffered concussion following two accidents in recent weeks and a spokesman for the club, director George Hepburn, said they were not rushing their captain back into action.
Bandits are due to race at Edinburgh on Friday in the League Cup before taking on Sheffield Tigers at Shielfield on Saturday in their opening Premier League fixture.
And after two successive home defeats, against Redcar in the KO Cup and Edinburgh in the League Cup, they are desperate to bounce back to winning ways.
Former favourite Kevin Doolan has been drafted in as guest for the home meeting against Sheffield, who themselves are sweating on the fitness of number one Simon Stead after he dislocated his shoulder last weekend.
They will include Berwick winter target Facundo Albin in their side, however, and he will create a lot of interest as he has made a good start to his British career.
