SPEEDWAY: Redcar Bears 63, Berwick Bandits 26 - BERWICK turned in arguably their worst performance of the season when they were thumped at Redcar.
This meant the club went into the meeting with only three of their regular riders, two of whom were reserves.
Berwick drafted in three guest riders - Claus Vissing, Linus Eklof and Tero Aarnio - but Vissing emerged as the only visitor to take the chequered flag all evening.
The Bears enjoyed a bumper pay night providing 14 of the first 15 riders past the post, and three of their number - Kevin Doolan, Ulrich Ostergaard and Aaron Summers - were all unbeaten by an opponent.
Doolan romped to a full 15-point maximum, with Ostergaard (14+1) and Summers (9+3) also in unstoppable form.
After the meeting, stand-in manager John Anderson described it as an ‘horrific’ result, saying the team simply hadn’t gelled.
Redcar: Doolan 15, Ostergaard 14+1, Summers 9+3, Wilkinson 8+2, Kus 8+1, Dilger 6, Mudgway 3.
Berwick: Dyer 6+1, Bellego 6, Vissing 5, Eklof 5, Aarnio 3, Jakobsen 1, Ashowrth r/rep.
