Berwick Bandits have been confirmed in a 12-team strong Premier League for the 2014 British speedway season.
The team gave their declaration of intent to run at the annual promoters’ conference at the weekend and they will go to the tapes along with:
Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ipswich, Newcastle, Plymouth, Redcar, Rye House, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Somerset and Workington.
Leicester, who rode in the Premier League in 2013, have decided to move up to the Elite League.
However, the league programme will be devised so that each team will contest 14 home and 14 away league fixtures next season.
The team limit for the PL has been set at an average of 42.5, the same as last year.
This means the Berwick management can now press ahead with their plans to formulate their starting septet.
The Knockout Cup and League Cup competitions remain, as do the end of season play-offs, with the top six sides battling it out for the title of league champions.
