Springhill win Runciman Cup in NNL

Springhill won the Runciman Cup when they beat another Berwick side, Tweedmouth Harrow, 5-1 in the final on Friday.

Richard Green opened the scoring for Springhill, with David Jardine doubling their advantage with a well struck long range effort.

By half-time Springhill were in the driving seat as they found themselves 4-0 up with further goals from Martin Bell, who netted from a rebound save by Steven Hastie, and Colin Young.

In the second half the Harrow pulled a goal back through Callum Ferguson, but David Hainsworth bagged a fifth for Springhill near the end.

Springhill now go in search of a cup double when they take on Amble St Cuthbert in the final of the Robson Cup in Alnwick on Friday.

The Sanderson Cup Final, which was played at Alnwick on Saturday, was won by Alnmouth, who beat Bamburgh 2-1.

Bamburgh scored first through Geordie Johnson, but Alnmouth equalised through the second half when Judd Donohue netted from the penalty spot.

The winning goal game from a Bamburgh goalkeeping error when he tried to dribble in his area but lost possession.

This Saturday, Lowick will face Wooler Reserves in the final of the Bilclough Cup at Alnwick.
