This was one of only two Northern Alliance fixtures that took place on Saturday and although the pitch was in good condition it poured with rain and blew a howling gale for the full 90 minutes.
The visitors had the benefit of the elements in the first half and got off to the best possible start when in their first attack they broke on the left and their centre forward Clements struck the ball home from close range.
For the next 20 minutes Wooler had to resist a series of attacks and the Wooelr goal led a charmed life.
With 10 minutes to go before half-time the visitors doubled their lead when Clements broke through to fire the ball home.
In the second half it was Wooler’s turn to dominate possession and it only took five minutes before Kevin Bell scored.
Jamie Punton struck the bar from a free kick, but as the game drew to a close, and with only minutes to go, Bell was on hand again to score following a goal mouth scramble.
The conditions were not condusive to free flowing football but never the less it was an action packed match that entertained the crowd.
