Coldstream continued their pre-season preparations with a defeat away to Northern Alliance Premier Division opponents last night.

All the goals at Hillheads came in the first half, with the hosts dominating the first half hour and going four ahead.

After a long journey down and with several players missing, Coldstream struggled to get a foothold early in the game until they changed formation 15 minutes from half time.

Captain John Crawford pulled one back after controlling a lofted Jordon Lauder pass, holding off a defender and shooting low into the corner from the edge of the box.

Neil Oliver’s men were far more competitive in the second period, restricting Whitley Bay to a handful of half chances and creating a few opportunities themselves.

But there was some concern in the Coldstream camp when goalkeeper Mark Walters had to be taken off with 25 minutes remaining after sustaining a hand injury.
