KENNY O’Brien scored a hat-trick as Berwick crushed ten-man Hawick at Albert Park to maintain their promotion challenge.

The former Alloa striker opened the scoring after 14 minutes and Josh Morris doubled the lead six minutes later after Hawick defender Ryan Shepherd was sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

It was 2-0 at half time, but Mark Lamb’s men capitalised on their one man advantage in the second half.

O’Brien scored in the 49th and 65th minute to complete his hat-trick and Greig Smith completed the rout just before the full-time whistle.

The win cements Berwick’s place in second place behind East of Scotland First Division leaders Coldstream.
