NORTH NORTHUMBERLAND LEAGUE
Duns suffered their first defeat in the North Northumberland League when they were crushed 5-1 at Amble St Cuthbert.
But Craster Rovers failed to take full advantage, being held to a 2-2 draw by Alnmouth United. That means Duns stay top of division two on goal difference.
Amble went into the game on the back of a heavy defeat the week before, but they bounced back to thrash the high-flying visitors.
Sean Straker scored with a penalty, and Liam Ramsay, Tim Hamilton, Mick Stewart and Danny Moyle were also on target.
The Duns consolation was an own goal.
Michael Brown and Richard Stanwix scored to put Craster in the driving seat, but they missed out on the chance to go top of the table when Alnmouth hit back.
Goals from Liam Jefferson and Ryan Woolley earned Alnmouth a share of the points.
Wooler Reserves were on the wrong end of an 11-0 defeat at the hands of free scoring Wansbeck.
Michael Freathy scored a hat-trick, and there were doubles for both Steven Patterson and Peter Roberts.
Wansbeck’s other goals came from Robert Curry, Ryan Wilson, Steven Armstrong and Shaun Bartram.
In the Sanderson Cup, Darryl Bell grabbed a double as Springhill beat local rivals Highfields United 4-0. Chris Jenkins and Colin Young were also on target.
Red Row inflicted a first defeat of the season on Shilbottle, winning 3-1. Sean Palmer scored twice and Marc Dixon was also on target.
Tweedmouth Harrow v Bamburgh Castle and Rothbury v Tweedmouth Rangers were both postponed.
