After a late morning and early afternoon rain deluge it took a lot of hard work from the Legion players and coaches to get this match on.
Eyemouth had made the long journey down and with the pitch being unplayable the referee granted the home side time to attempt to clear the water. It was just about playable by kick off although the rain later on in the match made the ground even heavier going.
Despite the conditions underfoot Legion did manage to play some decent football in the first half and were again guilty of missing chances in front of goal.
Eyemouth scored the only goal in the first period midway through when their striker rounded McMillan in goal before netting.
The home side continued to attack into the second half but were hit by a classic sucker punch as Eyemouth netted a second on the counter attack when their gleeful striker nodded in unmarked from close range.
Legion then made a change and Cuthbert gave them a lifeline when he burst through beyond the front two and beat a couple of men before finishing well under pressure with 25 minutes left.
Again the away side nabbed another goal on the counter to restore their two goal advantage which looked to have sealed the points heading into the latter stages.
However the Legion showed their battling qualities and a Mattinson’s shot from the edge of the box squirmed past the keeper before he grabbed a dramatic injury time equaliser.
