A Martin Tait hat-trick helped Duns to a welcome and comfortable win over Kelso United at the weekend in the East of Scotland League.
The Dingers’ other goals came from James Brydon and substitute Cameron Beasley on what was a good afternoon for the visitors.
Tait scored the opening goal after only 90 seconds .
Further goals from Tait, who went on to complete a first half treble, and Brydon saw Duns in control 4-1 at the interval.
And there was a further set-back for Kelso when their goalkeeper was sent off, shown a straight red card, after an hour, for a foul on Duns’ centre forward Stevie Shennan.
This meant they played the final 30 minutes with only ten men, and although they managed to hold their own during this period a Beasley goal was the icing on the cake for Carl Hudson’s side.
Hudson was naturally delighted with the result, and perhaps more importantly, with the manner of the victory.
He is now calling on his players to show the same commitment when they take on Berwick Reserves in a derby fixture at Shielfield this Saturday.
Duns: Mason, Weatherburn (Sherry), Walker, Burns, McCoul, Brydon (Beasley), Lee (Coyle), Chisholm, Shennan, Tait, McGregor.
