Eyemouth United, who have endured more managerial changes over the past few weeks, held their nerve to beat Berwick Reserves in this derby fixture.
The Fishermen, who now have Gary Smith and Jonathon Brown running the side following the departure of Mike Galloway, secured their win with three first half goals.
They opened the scoring in 15 minutes when Sean Philips broke through the Berwick defence to shoot past Berwick’s young keeper, his shot taking a wicked deflection off Ross Brady.
Eyemouth continued to press Berwick and seven minutes later man of the match Kieran Bullen scored from 20 yards out by curving the ball past the keeper into the Berwick net.
With the Eyemouth defence and midfield working hard they dealt effectively with the Berwick attacks.
From an Eyemouth corner Berwick failed to defend the ball and trialist Chris Falconer scored from close range.
In the second half Berwick pressed Eyemouth and their efforts were rewarded when scored on the 75 minute mark, Dickson providing the finish with a shot from the edge of the 18 yard box.
This goal spurred Berwick on but Eyemouth proved to be too strong for Berwick and they held out for a deserved victory.
