EYEMOUTH UNITED 2, HAWICK RA 5

Hawick drew first blood in this ding-dong match by sailing into the lead in the 9th minute through Kevin Strathdee.

Albert then edged further ahead early in the second half when Mickey Smith stabbed home from close range.

Eyemouth reduced the leeway when Stuart Coyle drove a Steven Shennan cut back, past Hawick keeper Dean Fry. Two minutes later United got on level terms. After latching on to a Jeff Colin pass, Martin Tait shrugged off a challenge before finding the net with a well struck drive.

The action continued to flow and with 74 minutes gone Hawick regained their lead when an Andy Watson shot cannoned off the post, and substitute Peter Keenan, stuck away the rebound.

Keenan then struck the bar before fellow substitute Greg Johnston got his name on the score sheet with a header which went in off the post, following a Declan Hogg corner kick.

A minute from time Keenan made it a nap hand for Hawick when he added the fifth.

Easthouses 1

Eyemouth United 1

Eyemouth opened their league campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Easthouses Lily last Wednesday when goalkeeper Paul Tansey saved a penalty in the closing minutes.

Stevie Shennan gave Eyemouth the lead after 30 minutes but in the second half Shennan missed a penalty when he shot over the bar after Martyn Tait was fouked.

Easthouses equalised with 15 minutes to go before Ewan Sherry was red carded for a foul which led to the penalty.
