Greenlaw travelled to B Division side Eyemouth in the second round of the Waddell Cup whenconditions were far from ideal.
Both team started well and Greenlaw soaked up a lot of pressure from Eyemouth, who started with the wind behind them. The home side were denied a penalty after 20 minutes when their striker appeared to have been brought down but the referee waved play on.
The first goal came after the half hour mark when an Aaron Whellans through ball played in William Smillie, who in turn cut it back to Carruthers, who made no mistake with the finish.
Two minutes later Greenlaw doubled their lead when a Robin Brown cross was latched onto by Adam Smith who finished neatly into the bottom corner.
Greenlaw continued to press with Lawrie Dunn and Patton going close, whilst Eyemouth also went close on a couple of occasions.
The second half saw Greenlaw with the wind behind them, and the third goal come in the 55th minute when a 40 yard though ball was collected by William Smillie who finished from a tight angle.
It was Smillie who made it four only minutes later when he headed home at the back post from a Martin Patton cross.
The introduction of Euan Thorburn, returning for his first game in nearly two years was a further positive and he had an immediate impact, assisting Chris Robertson who scored the fifth. With minutes to go Robertson chipped the keeper for the sixth.
