Duns surrendered their lead and then lost a goal in the last minute to go out of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup.

On a bright, sunny day at New Hawthorn Park the home side ran their Premier Division visitors close. But Carl Hudson’s men were profligate in front of goal.

Strollers, who were making their first visit to the Berwickshire town for almost 40 years, progressed to the next round with doubles from James Guy and Stevie Moncur.

The Dingers had gone into an early two-goal lead in the first 12 minutes courtesy of a seven-minute brace from top scorer Michael Robinson.

However in true Duns style the visitors had one back inside two minutes, adding a second six minutes before the interval to take the teams into half time all square.

Duns regained the lead in the 61st minute when great work on the left and an equally superb ball from Gary Waddell allowed Dez Chisholm to find the net at the back post and go back into the lead.

Again the lead lasted only five minutes, Strollers hitting back to make it 3-3.

With time almost up and extra time looming what has become something of a habit struck again as the Strollers attacked and won the tie with a headed goal in the last minute. Despite the referee playing almost three minutes of stoppage time Duns were unable to find and equaliser and the Edinburgh side held on to go through.
