Coldstream have appointed Steve Gibbard as their new manager.

The former Coldstream striker from Widdrington in Northumberland accepted the job following a meeting with the committee last night.

He resigned as manager of Tyneside Amatuer League side Stobswood Welfare earlier this month.

Assistant manager Phil Johnson, who ruled himself out due to work and family commitments, will remain in place alongside coaches Stephen Roughead and Jim Taylor.

Coldstream chairman Steve Wright said: “We’d like to welcome Steve back to Coldstream. By keeping the rest of the coaching staff in place we have some stability with which to move forward together and make a success of the rest of the season.”

Gibbard’s appointment follows the resignation of Neil Oliver last week.
