Josh Hebdon was sent off as Coldstream were cruelly knocked out of the SFA South Region Challenge Cup with
the last kick of the game.

Civil Service Strollers scored the winner deep into injury time, leaving the referee with time only to restart from the centre circle before blowing the final whistle.

It was a hard one to take for the Streamers, who had trailed 1-0 at half time after being largely outplayed in the first half.

Goalkeeper Jordan Clowes, on loan from Coldstream Amateurs to deputise for the suspended Mark Walters, could do nothing to stop the superb free-kick which gave the visitors the lead.

The 18-year-old also made a couple of good saves. He was one of two teenagers making his debut. James Oliver, a 17-year-old striker signed by Gibbard, was the other. With the squad stretched, assistant manager Phil Johnson, 38, also had to start in midfield.

But Stevie Gibbard’s men were a team transformed after the interval. The manager switched Johnson centre-back and moved Jamie Dixon into midfield. It had the desired affect. John Crawford equalised early in the second half after collecting a flick on from Dixon inside the box to shoot low into the corner.

The Streamers then had to contend with a double setback. Shortly after Johnson limped off with a hamstring injury, Hebdon was then shown two yellow cards in quick succession for sliding tackles. It left the home side a man down for the last 20 minutes.

But the ten men went ahead when Regan Graham’s corner was met by Crawford six yards out. The captain’s powerful header crashed off the underside of the bar before bouncing up and hitting the bar again. Oliver poked it into the net to make sure, but Crawford was credited with the goal.

The lead lasted only two minutes. Strollers broke down the left and with the home defence struggling to get back the drilled cross was volleyed home by former Coldstream frontman James Guy at the back post from six yards.

Strollers piled on pressure for the last 10 minutes and got their reward with the last kick when clever trickery in the box produced the winner.
