End of season matches tend to be dull affairs, but this one was far from it with both sides giving their all as they aimed to finish above each other in the final Premier Division table.
On a sweltering, hot afternoon, Coldstream began the brighter with Johnny Simpson creating something almost straight from kick-off. His cross, however evaded everyone and rolled to safety. The same player then broke into the penalty area, but a superb last ditch tackle as he went to pull the trigger kept the flame haired forward at bay.
With their first real venture forward a cutback from the left was duly powered home to give the Edinburgh side the lead. This was almost doubled moments later had it not been for youngster Jake Birkett throwing his body on the line to block a certain second.
Leither, however, did manage tio double their advantage from the penalty spot following a foul by Cannon.
It was at this point that Coldstream were relieved that they had got the job done last week and reached safety at Heriot-Watt University.
Simpson was unlucky when he saw a shot come back off the crossbar, but five minutes into the second half he netted to give his side some hope.
Moments later he shot agonisingly wide, whilst at the other end Walter had to palm a shot around for a corner.
