The Hipsburn Trident Soccer Tournament was hailed an immense success as ten First School teams from north Northumberland participated in the 20th annual event.
The five-a-side tournament, organised by Trident Soccer, has raised thousands of pounds for school funds over the years, and the event is recognised as one of the highlights of the grass-roots sporting calendar.
The league and knockout format resulted in hosts Hipsburn First School running out as champions in a tense final against Belford First School by the odd-goal in five. The Fair Play Award went to Bailey Burnlees of Wooler First School.
Dot Charlton, Hipsburn Head teacher said, “I’d like to thank all the schools, parents, teachers, helpers and children involved as well as, Trident Soccer’s Ryan Jobson and his coaching team, for organising and hosting the tournament.”
Commenting on the activities Trident Soccer Director Ryan Jobson said: “The atmosphere and fun has been incredible and the quality of football was top class. I’d like to thank everyone involved as well as, offer a big thanks to FA referees Richard Kelley from Amble and Peter Taylor from Wooler for officiating at the event.”
