Highfields lose 14-0 to title favourites

Shilbottle CW took a big step towards the North Northumberland League Division 1 title as they netted 14 times without reply against Highfields United.

Josh Hay netted six, Matty Graham four, Liam Brooks two and there were also strikes from Richard Brown and Ali Turvey.

The game between Bamburgh and Tweedmouth ended 1-1, a result that just about ends both teams’ chances of catching Shilbottle.

Sam Aldren gave Bamburgh the lead, with Craig Colquhoun equalising for Tweedmouth before half time.

In a good close game at Seahouses, North Sunderland and Red Row Welfare shared the points and eight goals.

Matthew Stephenson, Neil McFarlane, Jordan King and Robert Scott were the home club scorers with a Darren Smith hat trick plus a Paul Smith strike making up the Red row score.

Duns Reserves moved up to third place in Division 2 with a 10-0 win over Wooler Reserves. Steven Burns scored four, Jamie Lackenby got two, and Sean Robertson, Michael Clark, Keiran Renton and Robbie Aitchison also netted.

A Kevin Chapman hat-trick plus an Alan Buller goal gave Lynemouth Anglers the points against Embleton WR.

In the Runciman Cup semi-finals Paul Wood gave Lowick Utd an early lead but Amble St Cuthbert hit back to take the tie 5-1. Brad McLelland and Thomas Stones both scored twice.

Wansbeck AFC made it to the final with a 3-0 win over Alnmouth United. Michael Freathy scored twice.
