Duns FC have sent out an invitation to former players to attend the opening of their New Hawthorn Park pitch on July 28.
In particular, they are trying to trace the players who represented the club in the last match at the old Hawthorn Park.
A statement on the club website said: “Whilst never forgetting our club heritage we would like to invite the players who turned out for Duns in our last ever game at the original Hawthorn Park 40 years ago on the December 91972 against Civil Service Strollers. So, to that end we would welcome the following ex players to get in touch with the club:
Robert Finnie, Raymond Johnston, Jimmy Feeney, Robin Patterson, Eddie Hope, Brian Kelly, Peter Hardie, Sandy Paxton, John Kerr and Brian Collum and accept our invitation to be guests of the club as we entertain a Manchester City Academy side.”
Tickets for the grand opener go on sale next Monday, June 16. They are only available by post priced £5 adults, £2 children under 16. Send a SAE plus correct remittance to Colin Pike, 18 Cornwall Avenue Berwick, TD15 2NX.
