A Berwick side containing a mixture of trialists, first-team and reserve players lost to the East of Scotland League champions in a friendly at Rosewell on Tuesday.

Lee Currie and Josh Morris were on target for the visitors, but it was Whitehill striker Wayne McIntosh who stole the show with a hat-trick.

Billy Bald, Jonny Fairbairn, Damien Gielty, Dean Hoskins, and Dean Carse all featured for Ian Little’s men.

But it was Mike Lawson’s Whitehill who were quickest out of the traps.

The new Lowland League were 3-1 up at the break, Kerr Dodds among the scorers.

Currie equalised for Rangers in 11 minutes with a fine strike after Whitehill went ahead.

Carse went off injured before Morris pulled a goal after the break with a volley into the roof of the net to make it 3-2.

McIntosh wrapped it up for Whitehill by completing his hat-trick.
