Yorkshireman Thomas Ogden will fulfil a lifetime ambition on Saturday when he finally gets to watch Berwick Rangers play at Sheilfield Park.
The 26 year old will be accompanied to the game against Scottish League Division 3 leaders Alloa Athletic by 23 friends from the village of Stanbury in West Yorkshire’s Bronte Country.
Thomas has been a passionate if distant supporter of the Borderers since the age of five as his father Stephen explained.:
“We were watching the football results come in on BBC’s Grandstand and he just kept saying the name Berwick Rangers over and over again,” he said.
“Since then he always watches out for their results and keeps everyone he meets informed of how they are doing.”
Andrew Wood, trip organiser and Thomas’ carer explained that the whole group and Thomas in particular were very much looking forward to their trip.
“Thomas goes on about the Borders fortunes so much that we all feel like Berwick is our second club. We’ve been promising for years that we’d organise a big trip out with him so it will be great to see them play and make his dream come true.”
A club spokesman said Berwick would extend a warm welcome to Thomas and his party and hoped they all enjoy their visit.
