BERWICK Rangers have started their team-building for the 2012-13 season with the confirmation that six first team players have either signed, or are about to sign new contracts.

Three others, who played mainly for the Reserves last season, but who also have some first team experience, have also penned new contracts.

The club confirmed this week that central defender Chris Townsley and midfielder Steven Notman, have signed new contracts, and will team up with Andy McLean, who is half-way through a two year-deal.

Three other first team regulars - midfielders Lee Currie and Kevin McDonald, and striker Stuart Noble - have all accepted terms for next season and are expected to sign their contracts soon.

Fraser McLaren has been offered a new deal but as of yet has not accepted.

Youth player Ben Miller who appeared late in the season in the 1st X1 has also signed forms while Reserve players Darren Lavery and Jamie Burstow are also under contract.

Terms have also been offered to Fraser McLaren. Although the rest of the first-team squad are no longer with the club, Little in talks with a couple of them with a view to them taking part in pre-season training.

One of them is Elliot Smith, who missed a huge part of the season with a knee injury and is still recovering from. He may be offered the chance to come back in the autumn for training to assess his situation.

The fixture list for season 2012/12 will be published on June 18, but Berwick have pencilled in friendlies for July 11 and 21.

The first round of the Challenge Cup is on July 28 and the league season kicks off on August 11.
