Berwick Rangers kick off their league season on Saturday with a home game against Arbroath.

With the exception of long-term injury victim Ross Gray (knee injury), and midfield play-maker Lee Currie (suspended) player manager Colin Cameron hopes to have a full squad to choose from.

Arbroath were relegated from Division 1 at the end of last season and Cameron hopes his side can ‘catch them cold’ in their opening fixture.

An added attraction at the game will be the visit of several of the 1967 winning team over Rangers in the Scottish Cup, including Berwick-born Alan Ainslie, who now lives in Australia.

They intend to gather in the sponsors’ lounge after the game to auction off several items to raise money for ex-player Stuart Markland, who was recently presented with a new electic wheelchair at a ceremony in the Town Hall.

Money raised from the sale of photos etc will go to Stuart to help adapt part of his home to accommodate the wheelchair, which he claims has given him a new lease of life.
