Berwick have hauled themselves right back into the play-off picture following Saturday’s 4-1 home win over Queens Park.
But manager Ian Little says they now face the prospect of ‘two cup finals’ in their next two matches, away to Elgin and home to Annan, as they strive for a top four finish.
“This was a great win,” he said, “and at this stage of the season results are more important than performances.
“We have three games left, the last of which is away to Rangers at Ibrox, and it might be that we have to go there and get a result, but before that we have two cup finals, away to Elgin and home to Annan.
“Whatever happens at Ibrox on the last day of the season, will happen no matter what. What we have to do is try and get the results in the two games before that to make it as easy as we possibly can for ourselves.
“Elgin lost to Montrose on Saturday, and Montrose are not out of the equation either as they are level on points with us, but we can only focus on our own performances and hope that other results go our way in the meantime.
“We have got ourselves back into contention, which is the main thing after the disappointment of losing our last three games. Now we have to try and build on this and keep it going. Elgin is never an easy place to go, but the lads are all up for it and I am sure they will give it everything they have got.”
Of Saturday’s win Little said: “We lost an early goal but the players showed true character in fighting back the way they did. We have played better in some games this season, but at this stage it really is all about the results.”
