THE Scottish Football League Cup, known as the Scottish Communities League Cup (SCLC), will be on show at Shielfield this weekend, with fans having the opportunity to have their photograph taken with it prior to Berwick’s home game against Queen’s Park on Saturday.
The cup is once again being sponsored by the Scottish Government, reinforced through a nationwide campaign entitled ‘Wave of Support’. At its heart, the campaign seeks to eradicate the negative behaviour and dissolve the stereotypes often associated with football, and instead promote the three pillars of the Cup: Respect, Responsibility and Tolerance.
Wave of Support aims to place football clubs back at the heart of the community as a force for positive change. In addition to supporting, celebrating and growing the appeal and awareness of existing club and school football activities, the campaign will shine a light on positive role models and community youth initiatives promoting elements of respect, responsibility and tolerance throughout Scotland.
