Berwick Rangers have made their second signing of the summer by snapping up 21 year-old midfielder David Gold from Hibernian.
Gold was a member of the Hibs squad last season and had been with the Easter Road club since he was 10 and was captain of their Under 20 side. He spent part of last season on loan to Queen’s Park and Cowdenbeath.
Gold, who joins Scott Maxwell from East Stirling as a new arrival, was in the squad which lost 3-2 at Championship Falkirk on Saturday (5th July) in a close door game.
Berwick, fielding several trialists in a 20 man squad, led 2-1 late on with goals from Maxwell and Andy Russell, before the ‘Bairns’ hit back.
Berwick played against Spartans in Edinburgh on Tuesday, and will face Hibs in then first pre-season game at Shielfield on Saturday (July 12).
The game kicks off at 3pm and Alan Stubbs will be bringing his first team squad down with a few Under 20 players.
As was the case when Hibernian visited in a friendly in July 2011,

A pre season programme will be on sale (double issue inc the home game v Dunfermline on Sat 19th July at 2pm) will be at £2.
Meanwhile, manager Colin Cameron has added two new coaching staff to his backroom team.
Ex Oakley United manager and Raith/Dunfermline/Motherwell/Livingston and East Fife player Jason Dair has joined as has goalkeeping coach Craig Wight, the former Livingston, Arbroath, East Fife and Cowdenbeath custodian.
*The Summer football coaching programme for kids: will be run on behalf of the football club by Aspire Sporting Academy and Pro-Motiv8 (lead coach Dean Gordon of Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace). It will run for three days each week for four weeks (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) starting Tuesday, July 22.
Charge will be £10 per week per young person, with each child receiving a BRFC junior season ticket,
