Berwick Reserves slumped to a 6-0 home defeat in their opening Development League match at Shielfield on Tuesday night.
The league allows the use of trialists and up to five ‘over-age’ players, which meant Berwick were able to give run-outs to both Ross Gray and Andy Russell who are returning from injury.
Cowdenbeath took the lead after 15 minutes through Craig Sutherland. Rangers went close with efforts from Gray and Dean Horribine, but it was the visitors who netted again through Wilson to double their advantage before the break.
In the second half Cowden scored an early goal to stamp their authority on the match.
Sutherland netted again with a long range effort and two more goals before the final whistle put the seal on their victory.
