eyemouth United were well beaten in their King Cup second-round tie at Ferguson Park on Saturday, with hosts Whitehill Welfare progressing comfortably to the quarter-finals.
It didn’t take the home team long to get into their stride. In the tenth minute Whitehill’s Steven Manson played Aaron Somerville clean through but the final shot was directed a fraction wide of the upright.
Three minutes later the home side took the lead, with Wayne McIntosh bursting into the box and setting up Alex Munro to finish from short range.
McIntosh then struck the first of his two goals in the 34th minute to give Whitehill a comfortable lead at the break.
Eyemouth had their best spell of play in the 15 minutes after the half-time interval, but a Simpson strike was the only time that goalkeeper Darren Walker was called into action.
McIntosh sealed victory for Whitehill Welfare in the 72nd minute before Andrew Kidd produced a stunning half-volley ten minutes from time to complete the rout.
