Auchencrow Thistle cyclists Donald Smith and Neil Milton took part in the Dave Harris 200km audax, in what could only be called gruelling conditions, with snow, sleet and rain during the first three hours of the event.
Due to this the organisers changed the route, missing out the Tweedsmuir, Talla and Meggot dam and the Gordon Arms section.
The revised route took the riders from Rosewell through Broughton to Moffat, Greymares Tail, St Mary’s Loch, Traquair, Peebles, Clovenfords, Stow, Gore-bridge, Bonnyrigg and finally back to Rosewell.
Both Donald and Neil were going well and coping with the conditions until Neil got a puncture.
Donald was third rider home overall with a time of 6 hours and 45 minutes whilst Neil had a time of 7 hours and 2 minutes.
