EAST OF SCOTLAND FOOTBALL: Des Chisholm scored a double as Duns beat Gala Fairydean 3-1, while Coldstream won 1-0 away to Peebles Rovers.
Mark Weatherburn was also on target for Duns, whose impressive victory at Berwickshire High School will come as a confidence boost heading into Sunday’s SFA South Challenge Cup final against Stirling University at Netherdale. The win moves Neil Oliver’s men onto the 30-point mark in the First Division, and also put a dent in third-placed Gala’s promotion hopes.
Elsewhere, John Crawford scored his 42nd goal of the season to help Coldstream pick up all three points at Peebles Rovers. The prolific striker headed what proved to be the winner in the 18th minute.
With manager Andrew Gibson and assistant Phil Johnson both unavailable, first-team coach Michael Cornish was in charge at Whitestone Park. The Streamers were not at their best, but did enough to to record their third win in four games.
