Borders Sport and Leisure will run an extensive summer holiday sports programme for children in Berwickshire.
The programme will feature fun activities for pre-school children including mini-kickers football and gymnastics and an action packed schedule for Primary School aged children that includes fencing, team games, zumbatonic, gymnastics, athletics, badminton, hockey, and even taekwondo and surfing.
The sessions will take place at range of facilities including Berwickshire High School, Eyemouth High School, St Vedas in Coldingham and Chirnside Primary School.
Ewan Jackson, chief executive of Borders Sport and Leisure said: “We have put together a mixed sports line-up with, we hope, something that will encourage all children to get active this summer.
“The programme spans from Monday, July 1, through to Friday, August 16, with activities available to book on-line.
“We have tried to keep the pricing as competitive as possible with a two-hour session costing on average £6. Full details can be found on our website www.bslt.org.uk and there is also the opportunity to book activities online.”
Borders Sport and Leisure is also running a reward scheme for children taking part in the summer holiday sessions.
All children who participate in at least one hour of activity will receive a certificate.
Those who undertake three to five hours of sports have the chance of winning a “silver” goodie bag, six to eight hours earns the chance to win a “gold” goodie bag and more than nine hours the opportunity to win a platinum goodie bag.
The organisation will run summer holiday activity sessions in different locations across the Scottish Borders and anticipates that thousands of children will become involved throughout the region.
