SIR, - In a month of excesses, where Take That can appear within minutes on ITV1 and BBC1, and names such as The Black Eyed Peas, can reportedly claim £600,000 to play one party, Scocha at the Maltings were in a different league.
If these five guys, ever start to fill the stadiums which they so richly deserve, seismologists will be troubled with richter scale equipment readings from the audience reactions.
A superbly crafted set, which ranged from the Nntionalistic, Caledonia and Flower of Scotland, to the touchingly human, subjects of the Irn Bru Song and Grannies Soup, the sell out audience were worked to a frenzy on their feet, participating in the percussion clapping, vocals and the Scocha dance with undisguised joy.
In these times of financial crisis, there can be few acts in the world delivering more bang for buck than these five Hawick based entertainers and musicians and their excellent road crew.
What a way to spend an evening!
