Woodyard unveils plan for expansion

ALLAN Brothers has revealed major expansion plans which could pave the way for a significant number of new jobs at its Tweedmouth factory.

The timber and door manufacturer has announced a £1m investment in new machinery at its Ord Road site as part of its bid to double sales over the next five years.

If successful, newly appointed managing director Danny Hughes believes it could lead to a significant expansion in the 182-strong workforce.

“The expectation is that we will see a 15 per cent sales growth next year,” he said. “If that is successful it will require us to do more production here at Berwick which would probably mean more jobs.”

“Not many companies can say they are looking to double their sales in the next five years given the economic recession but that’s our goal.”

Allan Brothers, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, predominantly serves the north east and Scotland.
