Weather affects vegetable exhibits

Grantshouse and District Horticultural Society held their annual show held on Sunday.

Unfortunately the weather appeared to hinder the show of vegetables this year but the flower and industrial sections had good entries.

Trophy winners were as follows: Society Cup for most points in pot plants - A. Common; Bell Cup Award for best rose in show - Steph Patterson; Brown Cup for most points in Gladioli classes - joint winners C. Bertram and S. Last; Brown Shield for most points in Dahlia classes - A. Common; Clement Rose Bowl for most points in cut flowers - A. Common; Hogarth Cup for most points in onions and shallots - A. Common; Laidlaw Cup for most points in potato classes - C. Bertram; Wright and McIntyre Cup for most points in vegetable classes - C. Bertram; Greenwood Ladies Cup for most points in industrial section - P. Hogg; Rawlins Male Cup for industrial classes - J. Fouche; Lisa Rutherford Award for sewing - P. Hogg; Sanderson-Barrie Award for baking - S. Patterson; Wyse Junior Cup (five years and under) - Sandy Hogg; Rawlins Junior Cup (six-nine years) - Caitlin Stevenson; McCrindle-Brown Girls Cup (10-15 years) - Diane Walker; Boys Cup (10-15 years) - Bill Prentice; Wright and McIntyre Cup (class 133) - Heather Patterson.
