Experience vibrant, whimsical artworks, live music and inviting local shops on the Dunbar Street Art trail to be held month.
Dunbar has a rich history in the arts for all to enjoy. It is unsurprising, then, that this picturesque East Lothian seaside town is now embracing street art, with such a diverse range of art by local and international artists.
Dunbar Street Art Trail will take place on Saturday, April 18, and feature a blend of famous contemporary artists alongside our home-grown talents. The event seeks to blend together the shop local initiative with the world of art so that visitors and locals alike can experience the great atmosphere for which Dunbar is renowned.
Organised by Dunbar Trades Association (DTA), with support from East Lothian Council, the DTA is delighted to bring to the town a special Street art event that will showcase some of the UK’s best talent in our lovely seaside town.
The town centre will become a trail for art lovers to enjoy many different styles, with workshops for adults and kids including a workshop by Liz Lochhead, Scotland’s national poet.
There are events to interact with and experience art in a fun way, with Chris Young founding father of street art in Scotland, together with a wide array of local music and art including musical installation from Dunbar’s very own Stagger Rat lead Callum Easter. In celebration of John Muir, Dunbar being the world renowned Conservationist’s hometown, Dunbar Street Art trail will have the theme of ‘The Elements’.
This event will be completely free, family friendly and provide a unique opportunity to see some of the finest examples of street art on show in any small town.
The event will run from 10am until 4pm with guides free on the day to ensure you capture everything there is on offer and there is a truly amazing programme of events. Dunbar’s maiden adventure into street art is a collaboration of the shop local and the street artist movements.
