WRVS Volunteers at Borders General Hospital have gifted £178,000 to the hospital.

This has come in through funds from the WRVS shop in the hospital, the WRVS trolley and guiding. This year it has been decided these funds will be allocated towards the construction of the Margaret Kerr Palliative Care Unit.

There are 174 WRVS volunteers at the BGH. These volunteers come from across the community and many carry out a number of volunteering roles.

Jean Trench, WRVS service delivery manager, said: “We are delighted to support NHS Borders development of the Margaret Kerr Palliative Care Unit and are extremely proud that the efforts of our volunteers in raising £178,000 will be going towards this.”
