Voluntary sector event attracts 100

More than 100 volunteer and voluntary sector managers from across the Borders took part in an information event at Tweed Horizons last week.

Organised by Volunteer Centre Borders (VCB), Borders Care Learning Network, BAVS, The Bridge and Youth Borders as part of Volunteers’ Week, the event covered recruitment, training, quality assurance, retention, motivation and disclosures (now known as PVGs).

Susan Swan, VCB executive officer, said: “The third sector will play a critical role in tackling welfare reform, and volunteers will be heavily involved in delivering the services needed to overcome the inequalities created.”

The voluntary sector is worth of £2 billion to the Scottish economy.
