A Duns company discovered the power of social media this week after their message was retweeted by Dragons Den’s Theo Paphitis.

Every week Theo Paphitis runs a weekly Small Business Sunday competition, encouraging business owners across the UK to get in touch with him on Twitter @TheoPaphitis. They have to describe their business in one tweet and he then retweets his favourite six tweets.

This week Duns based The Real Firewood Company caught his eye with their ‘We will not leave you out in the cold!’ tweet and they were one of his chosen six.

Jackie Whyte from The Real Firewood Company reported that after Mr Paphitis retweeted their social media slogan their Twitter account “went ballistic”.

Only tweets sent to @TheoPaphitis between 5-7.30pm each Sunday count and the lucky six know their fate by 8pm on Monday.

With a following of nearly 500,000 on Twitter there is fierce competition to be a Small Business Sunday winner as it provides a massive boost to the lucky businesses who win, as The Real Firewood Company discovered.

The Real Firewood Company at Cairnhill Farm, Duns, is the result of 30 years in the forest industry with a recognition that the market lacked reliable suppliers of firewood that could be delivered promptly, delivered ready to burn and be delivered in a tidy fashion.
