On Friday, August 24, Eyemouth is hosting the twilight 5km walk/jog/run to raise funds for The Margaret Kerr Unit at the Borders General Hospital.
The event will start at 8pm from the Co-op car park, registration is any time after 6.30pm at Eyemouth Leisure Centre. There will be a short race briefing at the start of race at 7.45pm.
The price to enter the race will be £7.50 for adults and £3.50 for 12-16 year olds - sorry no under 12s are able to enter due to insurance purposes. There are no sponsorship forms you just pay your entry fee. This is a joint partnership between NHS Borders and Border Sport and Leisure Trust, helping to bring the Borders people together and raise money for a great cause.
The idea came about through the Local Jog Scotland group who meet once a week and pay £1 a week, and the money has been going to The Margaret Kerr Unit. They decided that the highlight of the year would be a 5km run/walk/jog. The group is run by Jo Highet, Mark Hogarth (SBC/army) and David Dempster (Eyemouth Leisure Centre).
On the night it is hoped to provide all competitors with glow sticks so that the Eyemouth area is awash with colours stretching around the route.
Entry forms are available at Eyemouth Leisure Centre, Trotters, Occasions or you could join Eyemouth Exercise Classes on Facebook, follow the link to events and download form from there.
